Bradley Ladgrove was caught with marijuana in his system while driving on the Great Alpine Road in Myrtleford in January 2016.
He threw a bottle at his former partner's car at Ovens the following month.
Ladgrove was well known to police in the area but has lived in Mackay for several years.
He left the North East to cut ties with bad influences, having been involved in various offences while living in Bright.
Ladgrove drove down to Wodonga to finalise his 2016 matters on Tuesday.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The court heard he hadn't offended since moving to Queensland shortly after the 2016 offences.
He had wanted to finalise the matters to allow him to return to the area without the matters hanging over his head.
"Things have progressed extremely well for him," lawyer Sally Wilson said.
He was fined $400 and will be banned from driving for six months.
The ban will come into effect on Monday to allow Ladgrove to drive the 2000 kilometres back to Mackay.
"Safe travels back to Queensland," Magistrate Ian Watkins said.
