With the NAB League being abandoned on Wednesday following the Victorian government's declaration of a state of disaster. officials may allow more players who are in their draft year to return to the competition next season.
"It's really disappointing for the players but we think there will opportunities for them moving forward in 2021 with some potential changes to the NAB League for the boys and girls programs," Wilson said.
"I know the AFL is considering lots of different opportunities for players who have missed out in 2020."
The AFL want to run some representative games between Vic Metro and Vic Country later in the year.
Officials had hoped that a country conference of the under-18 boys competition would run from August 22 before the latest outbreak.
