After being cleared to make his debut for Wagga Tigers late last Friday morning, the Albury star responded by playing a major role in the side's one-point win over Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong.
"It all happened pretty quickly," O'Hara said.
"All of a sudden we (Border players) were cleared to play and then to win by a point after coming back from four goals down with six or seven minutes left was a good effort.
"I enjoyed it."
O'Hara, Jake Gaynor and Shaun Campbell made a huge difference for Wagga Tigers as they helped the side rebound from a surprise opening round loss to Osborne.
The left-footer was lively across half-forward even though he admitted feeling old playing for the reigning Riverina league premier.
"At Albury I'm the eighth or ninth oldest but up there I'm the oldest by about four years I think," he said.
"It's pretty refreshing.
"It's hard to tell off one game but the standard was good.
"Leeton is undefeated so it should be another tough game on Saturday."
O'Hara almost wrote the season off late last month after AFL Riverina recommended against Border-based players travelling.
"I stayed in touch with them and stayed as fit as I could by running but it's a different type of fitness to playing," he said..
"It was exciting when I got the call because two or three weeks ago I sort of said don't worry about it because the situation seemed to be changing all of the time.
"It was becoming a bit of a hassle but they got it sorted out and I jumped at the chance to play last week."
O'Hara was particularly impressed by Henty youngster Nick Murray's four-goal performance for Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong.
"His hands are as good as anyone I have seen around here," O'Hara said.
"He played a great game.
"I can see why AFL clubs looked at him.
"Nick and Sam (Murray) and Matt Neagle all played well."
Meanwhile, Wagga Tigers' Charlie Bance said the side was motivated to hit back hard against Ganmain after losing to Osborne.
"We took a bit out of it. Personally I don't think we were quite ready for it, to be honest," Bance said.
"Osborne had obviously set themselves for it and they've played together for a while."
