Mackie witnessed first hand the might of the Lions in a practice match and says intensity will be crucial to their chances.
"We will have a completely different side to when we played them a month ago, but they were impressive on that occasion," Mackie said.
"I'll be looking for a big lift across the board on last week."
Several clashes will be crucial with Matt Rava poised to do battle with Sam Murray, Zach Bye and Jacob Olssen will clash in the ruck and Duncan McMaster could pick up Nick Murray.
