A long-serving Wodonga policeman has been remembered as a respected community member, after losing his battle with cancer.

Garry Corcoran had worked his way to the rank of senior sergeant, in charge of the uniform branch, before his retirement about seven years ago.
He joined the Wodonga station in 1981 and became a senior sergeant in 2011.
He was also known for his involvement in football with links to Wodonga Bulldogs, Wodonga Raiders and Myrtleford Saints.
The husband, father and grandfather died on Friday after a short cancer battle.
Inspector Tony Davis remembered his former colleague as a calm and respectful officer.
"He believed in fairness for everyone," he said.
"He treated everyone with respect, regardless of their position in life or the reason he was coming into contact with them.

"He was always happy and had a sense of calm which he instilled in the officers he worked with."
Mr Corcoran remained in general duties during his career and investigated everything from petty crime to murder.
"It's tragic that he's gone so early," Inspector Davis said.
"He will be missed by many.
"The way he carried himself and conducted himself served as an inspiration for other members to follow."
Member for Benambra and former officer Bill Tilley worked with Mr Corcoran.
"He was a strong leader and great decision maker," he said.
"It's enormously sad.
"He was heavily involved in the community and it is a massive loss to the community."
