PAST North Albury football coach Jason Akermanis is reinventing himself as a real estate salesman in Brisbane.

The former mentor at the Hoppers has joined a Ray White agency as a sales agent and auctioneer after moving with his family from Albury.
"I'd been away from Queensland for 14 years and I decided, once my youngest Zoe came along and with all things COVID-19, it was time to give up trying through Q School with golf and start a new career," Akermanis said.
"Along with my wife Megan, and my other two daughters Charlotte and Sienna, we decided moving back to Brisbane would be best to be closer to lifelong friends and both our families."
The Brisbane Lions AFL premiership star told Channel 7 the move from Albury was hastened by COVID-19.
"(It) was literally like fleeing a refugee camp, (we) threw everything in the car and got to the border just in time," Akermanis, 43, said.
The move follows a stint on the Border which included guiding North from 2013-16.
"Without going into too much detail things have changed on a personal level and hence I'm moving," Akermanis said.
"I enjoyed my time at North and living on the border was a great experience."
Agency boss Dwight Ferguson is enthusiastic about Akermanis' prospects.
