What has consistently been a 20 to 30 minute commute from Wodonga reportedly blew out to up to 90 minutes on Tuesday.
At 8am, traffic was banked up at the second bridge crossing of the Lincoln Causeway, 800 metres after the railway overpass.
At that point that wait was 45 minutes, and delays continued throughout the morning.
Commuters are being advised of the wait time when crossing from Wodonga each morning on an electronic road sign, although it is unclear what that is being based on.
