Cr Hannan will lead a group of 10 connected to the Finley Community Gym, with the aim of fundraising $5000 for its operations.
The catalyst for the August 30 fundraiser was the initial wave of COVID-19 restrictions in March, which saw the community gym close.
"The first lockdown was challenging, the gym wasn't open, and I did a lot more wheeling around the streets and roads with my daughter, and I thought to keep some focus on what's going on, I would wheel to Berrigan," Cr Hannan, 46, said.
"I thought it would highlight some issues and keep myself motivated.
"It's a challenging thing and I'm not getting any younger and I thought I would do it now."
Cr Hannan's aim is to complete the trip within four hours - last weekend he wheeled for 12.5 kilometres in one stint.
"I might be a bit sore at the end of the day but hopefully I've conditioned myself up to make the 20 kilometres," Cr Hannan said.
Cr Hannan hopes his near half-marathon wheel will "put some positivity" on a situation which has left people struggling physically and mentally, particularly with the fallout from border restrictions in recent times.
Already more than $2000 has been raised, with money to allow for free classes at the gym and the purchase of new equipment.
"It's quite humbling to do something with the community with this and to see the reaction so far with the donations," Cr Hannan said.
Strength and conditioning coach Lachie McDonald is contracted to run classes at the gym, which is operated by a committee.
"I've been involved since the start of this year," he said.
"We vary in ages, from 16 to 80; we've got an 84-year-old in one of the classes who comes in and is doing really well.
"I've been training Matt since before the lockdown, and about six weeks ago he came to me with this idea.
"There's going to be about 10 of us with him - we're all going to jog alongside.

"Matt's been training really hard and he's going to smash everyone, I reckon."
Mr McDonald said the fundraiser would support a few initiatives.
"We're going to put some of the money towards more classes, and we're funded for about another month to do a drought relief class, so we'll put some money to that so it can remain free," he said.
The Finley Community Gym was formed nearly three years ago and provides reduced memberships and free classes to both members and the general public.
