Albury Children's Court has heard that ongoing negotiations between defence lawyers for the pair, who have remained in custody bail refused since their arrest, and the prosecution had been productive.
The cases against the boys, aged 16 and 17 when charged, are being prosecuted by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Defence barrister for one of the boys, Christine Mendes - appearing on behalf of her instructing solicitor - asked for an adjournment, telling magistrate Richard Funston that discussions had been moving along quite well.
"We're hopeful there might be a resolution by the next occasion," she said.
Ms Mendes was in contact with Wagga solicitor Rohan Harrison, who was acting for the other boy, and said he concurred with the adjournment. Neither boy appeared in court.
Each of the accused are charged with attempted murder, wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, choke person and intend to commit indictable offence, retain with intent to commit an indictable offence, take person in company with intention of committing a serious indictable offence and destroy or damage property with intent to endanger life.
The charges follow an incident where a girl was found inside a burning Swan Street house on November 11 in a "semi-conscious state".
The girl was rescued from the smoke-filled house by firefighters and found to have suffered stab wounds.
She later underwent surgery at Albury hospital.
Mr Funston adjourned all charges to September 29, with bail not applied for and so formally refused.
