Ms McBain, the first female MP to hold the electorate that includes parts of Snowy Valleys council area, had been delayed in taking her place in parliament after sitting days were cancelled during the pandemic.
Ms McBain swore her oath in the chamber to the applause of MPs and bumped elbows with Prime Minister Scott Morrison instead of shaking hands.
Ms McBain said after the ceremony that is was "my great honour to say 'I do' to the people and places of Eden-Monaro".
"It was a very big day, very exciting, happy that it has taken place," she said on a video posted to Facebook.
"It was a bit different with all the COVID regulations and restrictions at Parliament House. We have been wearing masks in the corridors.
"I was very grateful that my husband and my kids could be here today."
