And for film directors Jacqueline Tooley and Kym O'Brien, the dense bushland and stunning views around Mount Buffalo and Bright is the perfect location to film a thriller movie.
The duo, which co-found production company 18 Maiden Lane, will film Hidden in the region in December which aims to showcase both the beauty and the unknown of the area.
"Hidden is about a young couple that goes up to a nice country cabin for a nice weekend away but shortly after arriving they quickly realise they might not be as alone as they thought they would be," Ms Tooley told The Border Mail.
"Some strange things keep occurring.
"I am originally from this area, I have been back for the pandemic, and I have always loved the beauty of the region.
"It is so beautiful but at the same time so dense that it really does lend itself too that you don't really know what is out there in the bush.

"And lots of things could be hiding out there that you don't know.
"So while being so beautiful and rugged it is also so quite spooky."
The duo have labelled Hidden as a "queer short thriller film set in the Australian alps" and have cast two actors to play main characters Jess and Bobbie who escape city living for a weekend away.
Ms Tooley said said while the location was perfect for the movie, they also hope it can showcase the region.
"I grew up here and since leaving over a decade ago to travel the world and work, every time I come back it is sort of a breath of fresh air," she said.
"I am continuously distracted by how beautiful this region is and I think it would be great for more people to know about it.
"It would be great for tourism, the more people that know about this area and if something like a horror movie can bring more people to come and see this region I think that would be great."
While the pair hope Victorian restrictions will ease before filming begins in the first week of December, they have a COVID safe plan ready.
"We are hoping the restrictions won't be as strict come December but we are filming it with a very small crew," Ms Tooley said.
"So it will just be Kym and myself, writing and directing up there, and we also have a crew of just two actors on set.
"So we will be able to maintain appropriate social distancing and all of that."
"We also have a kickstarter goal of $5000 which sounds like a lot, but it goes towards paying for the location and will pay our actors, which we think is really important.
"We are about 46 per cent funded at the moment."
