The six-team competition only started on July 25 after COVID-19 threatened to torpedo the season, like it did the Ovens and Murray.
"First and foremost it's been good to play footy, we didn't think we would at one stage," Maiden said.
"From week to week, you didn't know if you were going to be playing again the next week or not.
"Once the club decided they were keen to play, we got stuck into training and it's a good reward for the players.
"It's been hard for them because it's been fairly stop start not knowing what's going to happen, we've tried to block that out of our mind, it's been fun."
