Cupido was informed by the Roos on Friday he had been unsuccessful in his bid to take over from Marc Almond at John Foord Oval.
Former North Melbourne player Peter German is the hot favourite to be appointed.
"I'm really upset and disappointed I didn't get it," Cupido said.
"I really wanted it.
"I felt it was a good fit having a strong connection with 'Almo' (Almond) but obviously not.
"I really want to coach again and I'll just see what is out there.
"I'll keep on keeping on and see how things pan out."
Cupido will speak to Corowa-Rutherglen officials this week but admitted his future with the Roos is up in the air due to his coaching aspirations.
The former AFL player, who has previously spent time at the helm of Rumbalara and Airport West, said he had regained his passion to coach.
"I had a good experience at Rumbalara when we won the premiership and I just feel if you've played league football you almost have an obligation to pass on what you know," he said.
"I haven't coached for a while and I feel it's time to do it again.
"This is the transition from playing to non-playing as I feel I have only have one or two years of playing left in me.
"I'd love to stay involved in Ovens and Murray footy but there could be an opportunity in the GV as well.
"The main thing is I want to coach."
Cupido joined Corowa-Rutherglen after two seasons with Henty.
Corowa-Rutherglen's head of football Craig Spencer confirmed German has shown interest in the position but said the Roos hadn't signed him.
After severing ties with Albury, German took over as North Queensland's coaching mentor.
