Albury MP suggests Melbourne's coronavirus checkpoint set-up is not gold standard

Checkpoints around the capital may be unmanned by police in wet weather, something which occurred on Thursday morning on the road to Geelong.

Mr Clancy compared it to NSW where police have operated around the clock at crossing stations.

"Right from the start the NSW police commissioner spoke of doing things to a gold standard when it comes to the checkpoints and we would hope that the same is applied in Victoria," he said.

Asked by The Border Mail if it was not a gold standard by having time off for rain, Mr Clancy said "I think that speaks for itself".

The NSW government is assessing various factors surrounding the control of coronavirus in Victoria before reopening its border to the Garden State.
