The institution on Wednesday unveiled a 10-year plan stating its regional campuses will "exit unsustainable face-to-face offers" in disciplines other than rural health and education.
They would be replaced by "online courses supported by on-campus facilities, student support, and employability pathways".
However, La Trobe remains committed the Border campus which had its foundation stone laid in 1994.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We intend to maintain our network of physical campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Shepparton and Mildura, providing these communities with pathways and qualifications to meet increased student demand and workforce need," a spokesperson said.
"We see strong partnerships with TAFE providers - including Wodonga TAFE - as being integral to the future operations of the university.
"We will work together to develop access to post-secondary education, and to ensure students have seamless pathways between vocational and higher education.
"Our Albury-Wodonga campus will continue to provide a broad range of high-quality degrees including nursing, social work, education and biomedicine.
"Research will be centred around ageing in place, environment and water, and biomedicine."
