Acting NSW Minister for Sport Geoff Lee announced on Thursday changes for community sporting activities, but parents must continue to maintain social distancing of 1.5 metres with others not from the same household.
While most junior competitions on the Border have wrapped up shortened winter seasons, hockey will continue to run in Albury for at least the next three weekends.
Hockey Albury-Wodonga sport operations manager Cayte Campbell said it's a positive step.

"It's brilliant that both parents can come along and the kids really appreciate it too, particularly the little ones," she said.
"Until now we haven't had many in the crowd, with the juniors we'd be lucky to have up to one parent per child and spectators for the senior competition have been light on as well.
"We haven't been turning people away, but we haven't really encouraged spectators and because of that we can social distance easily.
"Probably the first week we had to remind people a little, but after that people have been very good with the social distancing."
In further positive news, inter-regional community sporting competitions may recommence where there is a COVID-19 safety plan for the school or community activity.
School and community sport participants should continue to avoid shared travel arrangements and keep gatherings to a minimum before and after the event.
