Wodonga member Warrick Armstrong said the boat could be used in rescues, searches and transporting injured patients.
"We get flooding every few years - they can pretty much strike at any time," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"This boat is licensed to carry eight people and the hull is good for use in rivers as well as the lake.
"We can be deployed anywhere."
The boat is one of 18 being given out across the state, with Tallangatta also due to receive one.

The boat is designed to be small enough to be used in shallow water, but stable for use in rough and windy conditions.
Mr Armstrong said the coming months were expected to be busy in the region.
"We're certainly preparing for the possibility of floods," he said.
