A minor flood warning has been issued for the Kiewa River downstream of Mongans Bridge. The Kiewa River at Bandiana fell below the minor flood level during Thursday. Renewed minor flooding is expected throughout the Kiewa river catchment from Saturday afternoon. In the 24 hours to 9am on Saturday, rainfall totals of up to 70 millimetres were recorded in elevated areas of the Kiewa river catchment. Rainfall totals of 10 to 30 millimetres are forecast for the remainder of Saturday, with isolated higher totals possible. IN OTHER NEWS: The Kiewa River at Kiewa (main stream) recently sat at 2.30 metres and was falling, but may reach the minor flood level of 3.3 metres overnight Saturday into Sunday. The Kiewa River at Bandiana was recorded at 2.45 metres and steady, but is expected to exceed the minor flood level of 2.8 metres on Sunday. Other catchments likely to be affected include the Upper Murray and Mitta Mitta Rivers, Ovens and King Rivers, Seven and Castle Creeks, Goulburn River upstream of Lake Eildon and Goulburn River Eildon to Seymour. Vic Emergency recommends nearby residents should be prepared to act if the situation changes, while farmers should consider moving livestock and machinery to higher ground.
