Duryea was forced to make the gut-wrenching decision after Front Page injured himself in the float shortly after departing Corowa enroute to Sydney.
The shock scratching robbed connections of a shot at a massive payday in the $1.3-million feature where Front Page was the $4.60 second favourite.

The Duryea stable tweeted that their stable star had escaped any career ending injury.
"To scratch Front Page from the Kosciuszko after hurting himself 30 minutes into travel was devastating for us, our family, team and owners," the stable tweeted.
"Hardest u-turn ever.
"No long term damage, we will take time (with the recovery)."
