Wilson is close mates with Panthers premiership star Marty Brennan and Azzi medallist Nico Sedgwick.
The pair have been in Wilson's ear about the prospect of joining them at the Lavington Sports Ground next season.
However, Wilson recently re-signed as an assistant under Peter German and was looking forward to working closely with the highly successful coach.
"It's exciting to see for the club and the town to be able to land a coach the calibre of Peter," Wilson said.
"Living in Albury and having two good mates at Lavington in Marty and Nico, the offer was there to switch clubs.
"But my partner and I have twin girls who are nearly one now and have close family ties at Corowa.
"So the best case scenario for the family and I was to stay at Corowa.
"Marty, Nico and I have always spoken about playing alongside each other.
"But I'm looking forward to helping Corowa take another step forward and the prospect of working alongside Peter was enticing.
"Peter has obviously coached at the elite level and his resume speaks for itself."

Wilson rejoined Corowa-Rutherglen this year after three seasons at Rutherglen.
He finished runner-up in the Barton medal last year and was regarded as one of the premier midfielders in the Tallangatta league.
The Roos have been able to retain the majority of their list with the exception of power forwards Damian Cupido and Trent Castles.
They have also picked up some handy recruits in Charlie Nastasi, Jason Marks and Kyle Docherty.
Wilson said there was a lot of natural improvement in the list.
"It's pleasing to be able to land a few recruits and I know the football department has been working hard behind the scenes," he said.
"But I think one of the biggest factors to our improvement will be the younger guys being a year older and having more mature bodies.
"Losing Damian and Trent is a blow and landing a big forward is a recruiting priority.
"Craig Spencer, Jarrod Hanrahan and Beau Longmire are working hard on further recruits and I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two big signings."
