This weekend will mark three months since the 72-year-old man was injured inside his Grafton Street property.
He was struck with a hammer and tomahawk but refused to hand over the keys to his Nissan X-Trail, which was then smashed.
His wife had also been inside, and asleep, when the incident unfolded.
The victim is still hopeful arrests will be made.
"I've had medical hassles since the incident but I feel alright in myself," the man said on Tuesday.
"I don't regret anything that I did.
"We've updated the security at the house but I'm not having trouble sleeping or anything, or worried it might happen again."
IN OTHER NEWS:
While he said the incident hasn't affected him, he is more cautious around his home.
"I make sure all the doors are locked going to bed," he said.
"I used to do that but it's more of a ritual now so that I don't forget to do it."
Sensor lights and security cameras are now in use at the house.
Police had told him they had suspects but he hasn't spoken to investigators recently and hasn't been told of any charges.
"I don't like the thought of them being around and doing it to someone else," he said.
"As far as I'm concerned they're bloody idiots - you don't go around threatening people with axes and hammers."
