The real estate fraud trial of Ovens Valley MP Tim McCurdy could be heard in the County Court as early as January.

McCurdy appeared in a brief directions hearing in court on Thursday, held via video link.
He is charged with five offences from when he was a real estate agent in Cobram in 2009, including making a false document, using a false document, attempt to obtain property by deception and obtain property by deception, but has pleaded not guilty.
McCurdy's barrister Ian Hill told the court the trial would last for 10 days.

Prosecutor Susan Borg said the trial would involve additional witnesses who were not available at the time of the committal hearing, held back in October 2018.
The County Court is in the process of re-booking trials for 2021, following a shutdown during the coronavirus pandemic, and the parties were warned there could be no delays once a date was set.
The bail of McCurdy was extended and a trial date will be set during the next few weeks.
