Alcohol was clearly a major factor, Richard Funston said, in the intimidation Douglas Gordon Smart meted out to his long-time partner.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Smart was so drunk on the night of August 20 that five days later, when interviewed by Corowa police, he couldn't remember leaving the threatening voicemail in which he said: "How about I bring the shotgun around, hey."
Albury Local Court heard the incident happened four weeks after the couple's break-up, after 20 years together.
The victim earlier went to talk to a friend about the split when Smart, now 52, showed up on her doorstep and told her friend to "go f ... yourself".
Smart pleaded guilty and was fined $500.
