Matt Grantham has joined a number of recruits at the Roos after winning three best and fairests with neighbouring Tallangatta and District outfit Wahgunyah.
"We've been chasing Matt probably over an eight-year period, although it hasn't been every year, but we've certainly spoken to him plenty of times over that journey," Roos' head of football Craig Spencer said.
The 29-year-old, who has a family connection with the club, admits the timing is now ideal.
"I just want to have a crack at the higher standard and was just looking for a change as well," he said.

"I've been thinking about it for a few years now, but just with having the time off, I thought it would be a great time to have a crack."
Grantham lives and works as an osteopath in Albury, but has also opened a business in Corowa.
"I was living in Melbourne and travelling back to play at Wahgunyah for a year or two, I don't know why I didn't have a crack (in the O and M earlier), just with cricket, juggling the two might have been a little bit hard with work, but I'm settled in my work now and know how much time I've got for everything," he said.
Grantham is also a top order batsman with Corowa in its maiden year in Cricket Albury-Wodonga's provincial competition.
He joins rebounding defender Jason Marks, ex-VFL midfielder Charlie Nastasi and Mt Eliza big man Kyle Docherty at the Roos, while former AFL assistant Peter German is the new coach.

"He's got an athletic build, so he's not going to get pushed around and he's a silky midfielder, so when he gets out and gets space he should be able to deliver it in a way that gives our forwards the chance to lead out," Spencer said.
The Roos are still targeting a key forward and ruckman as they look to snap a seven-year finals drought.
