He had a shaved head, stood about 170 centimetres and was carrying a BB gun, a type of air rifle.
Police radio then informed them a man had been involved in an "incident" in Jacaranda Street.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It was Daniel James Runge, who as a result of what happened on September 17 has pleaded guilty to several firearms offences.
"I wasn't aware it was an unregistered firearm, your honour, I just thought it was a spud gun," he said.
Runge tried to explain to the court that he was doing his best to "turn my life around" but acknowledged his short fuse continued to cause him trouble.
"I'm so ashamed of it and a couple of days later, I'm always apologising to people," he said.
That anger management issue became apparent to the officers, who received word about Runge's behaviour just after 8am.
A man, they were told, was out the front of a house "being aggressive" and "possibly assaulting people".
When the police arrived, a woman who lived in the house came out on to the front porch and told them Runge, her partner, was upset over an argument he'd just had with a friend.
The officers then saw the rifle, a Crossman 788BB, leaning against the porch.
Magistrate Richard Funston placed Runge, 48, on a 12-month community corrections order on charges of possess an unauthorised firearm, possess an unregistered firearm and not keep a firearm safely.
