A prefabricated office already built in Melbourne will be transported to central Albury as part of a development application submitted to council for approval.
The proposed single-storey office will be built on a block presently used as a car park between Florin House in Smollett Street tenancies on the large Kiewa-Smollett streets corner.
The development application for the $540,000 project was submitted by Prebuilt, a company specialising in the design and creation of modular buildings.
It was founded by Rob and Christiana Colquhoun with its Kilsyth headquarters including a 40,000 square metre manufacturing facility.

Its commercial real estate clients include Abigroup, John Holland, Melbourne Airport, Stockland, McDonald's Restaurants and Metro Rail.
"The proposed building has been constructed already and made up of four modules which would be installed within a day, greatly minimisng disruption to both public and nearby businesses," the application states.
"This would of course be preferable to an onsite build lasting many months.
"These modules would be lifted into position by crane with the foundations being a driven pile system, creating minimal environmental disturbance, with the final onsite finishing taking between one and two weeks.
"Overall, this process is of a significant, shorter timeframe than conventional building works and reduces the likely impacts of the proposal on adjoining residents and the locality as a whole.
"The proposed development is of a high quality architectural design.
"The dwelling's design relates well to its site, adjoining sites and to the streetscape in terms of appearance, envelope, setbacks, bulk and scale."
A variation to council's car parking requirements is being sought.
The net parking shortfall is 11 with the building to take up seven spaces on the existing site and council staff requiring a further four due to the office floorplan size of 174.75 square metres.
The proponent says the shortfall can be offset due to the proximity to the nearby Kiewa Street car park and onstreet options.
It is also prepared to negotiate a carparking agreement with council.
"It is the owner's intention to enter an agreement with Albury Council to pay for contributions due to this car parking deficiency," the application states.
