The break-in was Shannon James Royal's most serious charge, magistrate Richard Funston said.
But he said he was willing to free Royal by way of a nine-month intensive corrections order, provided immediate steps were taken to secure a drug rehabilitation bed.

"Yes, thank you," the 22-year-old replied from Junee jail, where he has spent five weeks bail refused.
Royal's estimated $1300 haul from one of the three Hague Street units he burgled in late May included a collection of 1980s and 1990s comics and 1980s boxed sets of Lego.
Albury Local Court has heard the East Albury man's offending all stemmed from his drug addiction.
Defence lawyer Sascha McCorriston said Royal had gone clean during his time inside and had a "clear understanding" of the consequences of his actions.
Royal was supported in court by his family, who Mr Funston thanked for attending.
He pleaded guilty to several charges including break, enter and steal, carrying a cutting weapon upon apprehension and destroy or damage property.
The last charge related to an incident on June 27 when he launched into a screaming fit, leading to his father ordering him to leave.
Royal slammed his bedroom door shut, then punched a 50-centimetre hole in the panel.
His father immediately called police.
Mr Funston said he accepted Royal's life was "pretty messed up" because of his drug addiction.
"If you use, you go inside."
"Never again," Royal replied.
