Maruma was outed after making contact with Belvoir wicket-keeper and skipper Nat Sariman while batting in last weekend's match at Bunton Park.
The Hoppers will appeal the decision with a hearing expected to be held next week.
Maruma attempted to play a lap-sweep, but the ball lobbed in the air where Sariman was waiting to take the catch.
Contact was then made with umpires Neil Smith and Norm Maclure making the report.
Maruma has made scores of three, seven, 11 and 30 this season but boasts six wickets at an average of 18.
The right-hand opening batsman is yet to play for Zimbabwe, but has played 19 first-class games, racking up almost 1000 runs.
He has played with former New City star Tarisai Musakanda.
