HOLBROOK skipper Corey McCarthy isn't getting lulled into a false sense of security by reigning premier Rand's shaky form heading into their clash at Rand on Saturday.
The Pigeons have been rocked by unavailability due to the harvest in recent weeks, losing two of their last three matches.
"Rand is still one of the best teams in the competition," McCarthy said.
"They will be pretty fired up after losing to Culcairn last week."
While the Brookers will be without Nick Locke due to work commitments until Christmas, Rand has been missing Mark Kreutzberger.
McCarthy said he was pleased to be sitting third on the ladder only two weeks before the Christmas break.
"We have an average age of 18 or 19 and have been beating sides with a lot more experience in them," he said.
"Hopefully we can build on our start."
