Wodonga residents are among 416 Indi signatories on an open letter calling on the government to support Indi MP Helen Haines' proposal for a Federal Integrity Commission, in a full-page advertisement published in the Border Mail on Saturday.

With the tagline Australia Needs A Robust Federal Integrity Commission Now, the signatories support Dr Haines' Bills and say corruption must be stamped out to restore Australians trust in politics and democracy.
The advertisement was entirely funded by donations from 247 individuals in the federal electorate. Local residents Bobbi McKibbin and Mim McGowan said they expect political corruption to be investigated and politicians to be held accountable.
"The time for a robust integrity commission is long overdue," they said in a statement.

"Politicians should not be able to write their own rules and exempt themselves from proper scrutiny.
"We strongly support Helen Haines' bills and call on the parliament to debate them."
In late October, Helen Haines tabled two bills in parliament to establish the Australian Federal Integrity Commission and a parliamentary code of conduct.
Dr Haines introduced the bills after growing community concern about the government's two-year delay in releasing its legislation for an integrity commission.
Just one week after Dr Haines tabled the bills Attorney General Christian Porter finally released his legislation.
