New search for Allecha Boyd conducted in Lester State Forest, but no body found

Coming up to the fourth Christmas since Ms Boyd's death, police conducted their seventh intensive search of the Lester State Forest, southwest of the Coolamon township, late last week, but were unable to retrieve a body.

Riverina Police District Commander Superintendent Bob Noble said police searched a new section of the forest not yet investigated.

"We did have some earth moving machinery and equipment to make the job easier, but we didn't find exactly what we were looking for," he said.

"Each time we go out, we eliminate certain things and I do believe we are getting closer."

Ms Boyd was last seen travelling as a passenger in a green Subaru between Wagga and Coolamon on August 10, 2017.

She was 27 when she was driven to Samuel John Shephard's home - who has been sentenced to 27 years' jail - to buy drugs the day she died.

Ms Boyd was later taken to the outskirts of town, where she was confronted by a woman over an alleged break-in at her home. Shephard then used a pistol to shoot Ms Boyd several times before he and another man, Anthony Shane Hagan, buried her in the Lester State Forest.

Superintendent Noble said police were not giving up hope.

"We won't rest until we locate Allecha's remains and return her to her loved ones," he said.

"We won't give up."
