A Victorian State Emergency Service spokesman said the region received 31 calls for assistance, 24 relating to fallen trees and three reporting property damage.
The Wodonga unit responded to six incidents while units in Wangaratta (five calls) and Beechworth (four) were also kept busy.

Wind gusts of up to 55 km/h peaked about 2.30pm according to online monitors.
The SES spokesman said the incidents continued a year that started with bushfires and included severe storms, flash floods, rescues and searches.
"Our volunteers have been incredible all year, to be honest," he said.
"There's been storms almost weekly across spring and any time of day or night, they drop everything and get out there with their chainsaws and ladders and support the community."
