Broad held a 10-shot advantage at around the midway point of the match, but was eventually run down by Narrandera bowler Matthew Thornton on his home green, 31-23.
Nine of the first 15 ends went to Broad, including a four on the 15th to make it 18-8, but he only won four of the last 16 as Thornton charged to victory.
Broad got through a thriller of a quarter-final against Young's Damien Miller, 31-28, with no more than four shots separating the pair for the duration of the match.

Temora's Ricky Potter defeated Thornton in the final, 31-17, after he survived a scare from Tumut's Geoffrey Webb in the semi-final, which he won 31-29.
Potter captured the Zone 8 fours with Glen Keane, Ian New and Wayne Foote a week earlier.
Narrandera hosts the Zone 8 Champion of Champions pairs this weekend with Henty's Kerry Boyle and Bruce Diffey to represent Albury and District.
The duo defeated Broad and Norm Honey at North Albury Bowling Club in October and take on Potter and Mick Wynd from Temora in the first round on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the first two rounds of the Albury and District president's reserve fours are set to be played at Culcairn on Sunday.
Seven entries were taken for the event, with the title to be decided on January 17.
Three teams entered the open fours at Holbrook with a semi-final and final to be completed on the same date.
The senior pairs final will be played at North Albury, also on January 17.
