Billy Collison and Steven John Garratt remain in custody following the alleged attack, said to have been over a missing pushbike and $100.
They appeared in the Wangaratta Magistrates Court on Thursday on a video link from custody.
The court heard Lauren Therese Sommer - who allegedly stomped on the man's testicles three times - was either in rehab or undergoing mental health treatment while on bail.
The court heard how the case progresses will depend on how Sommer is dealt with.
She has provided a statement and is a co-accused in the matter, but could later become a witness.
The court heard the defence and prosecution were also trying to resolve the allegations against Garratt.
An offer by his defence team had been put forward which will be considered.
The court was told in July that the victim was driven out to the Warby Ranges during the incident.
Collison was the alleged instigator of the July 4 kidnapping and assault.
The victim had gone to Garratt's home and was allegedly given cash and a bike to buy ice with.
He went to a home on Brash Avenue, left the bike out the front and got drugs, and panicked when he realised someone took the bike.
The court heard he had used the ice and called Garratt, who allegedly dragged him into Sommer's car while he walked on Evans Street.
The trio allegedly took him to bushland, stripped him, forced him to run, and threatened to rape him as he was bent over a log.
Threats were allegedly made to stab him with a star picket which was thrust next to his head.
He was allegedly held at a home for three hours and attacked, before being warned not to go to police.
At this stage Sommer won't be called to give evidence in the case, but that could change.
Questions were raised about whether her statement could be included in a brief of evidence.
The alleged victim will give evidence from a remote witness facility.
The court heard it could take a day to get through witnesses in a committal, which would determine if there was enough evidence for a trial to be held.
Sommer and Garratt will return to court on January 7 and Collison will return on February 4.
