A driver was killed in a single vehicle crash at Benalla on Sunday afternoon.

Police said the incident occurred about 3.30pm on the Midland Highway when the driver lost control.
"The car left the highway and crashed into a tree," police said in a statement.
"The driver and only occupant of the car, believed to be a man in his 70s, died at the scene."
Police are investigating the circumstances of the fatal crash.

Earlier a woman in her 70s died when the car she was driving lost control while travelling along the Katandra Main Road, Yabba North, about 1pm Sunday.
The car left the road and crashed into a tree, with the driver and only occupant dying at the scene.
