Brear joined the Pigeons' committee in 1987 and went on to serve as president from 1997 to 2015.
During his presidency, the club won 17 football and netball premierships.
Brear played a major role in luring former Carlton star Brendan Fevola to Yarrawonga with the Pigeons winning back-to-back flags during his time at the club.
The Pigeon life member played 89 senior matches and was a member of the losing 1974 grand final side against Wangaratta Rovers.
Brear played in a reserve grade premiership in 1976 and coached the team in 1984.
Dan Leslie, Lauren Mulquiney, Kade Kuschert, Sarah Senini, Sarah Meredith, Matt Pendergast, Ron Montgomery and David Kefford were made life members of the Ovens and Murray in 2019.
