Police are treating a fire that gutted a family home in Cudgewa as suspicious.

Firefighters were called to the Bluff Falls Road property about 8.45pm on Thursday.
The home was well alight when crews arrived and the rural home was destroyed.
Wodonga detectives attended the scene and a police media spokesman said the fire was considered suspicious.

Family violence Detective Sergeant Brendan Roche said a married couple and two 11-year-old children fled the home.
"The cause is yet to be determined," he said on Friday afternoon.
"We have an arson chemist from the arson and explosive squad as well as detectives from Wodonga in attendance at the moment, trying to determine the cause."
Nobody was in custody.
While the exterior walls remained standing, the inside of the home was destroyed.
Fire crews from the Corryong, Walwa, Nariel Valley, Cudgewa and Tintaldra brigades had attended.
It took an hour to bring the fire under control.
