The Rangers were desperate for victory against the bottom placed Eskdale to remain in finals contention.
The home side scored a comfortable six-wicket victory after reaching Eskdale's 86 after 24 overs.
O'Connell was thrown into the attack after the first drinks breaks with devastating results.
He took a wicket with his second ball and the final ball of his eight over spell.

Baranduda skipper Vince Moran was full of praise for O'Connell.
"Jaeden has been fantastic for us all season," Moran said.
"Although he hasn't been taking a lot of wickets, he hasn't been leaking runs so he has been really handy for us.
"Jye Hodgkin and Carl Rogalski were building a bit of a partnership for Eskdale.
"So I brought Jaeden into the attack after 20 overs as a bit of a surprise packet.
"It worked in our favour when he got a wicket with his second ball.
"He then got on a roll and ripped through the middle and lower order.
"He also got a wicket with the last ball of his spell which handed him his first five wicket haul."
O'Connell crossed from Albury three seasons ago.
