Having his tenth career start, The View was successful in the $22,000 Class One and Maiden Hcp, (1600m).
With no obvious leader, Souquet elected to pounce on the early lead.
Once in front, Souquet rated The View ($13) to perfection and was never seriously challenged as held off the finishing burst of Magic Murphy ($19) by half-a-length.
That duo gapped the rest of the field with Lucky To His Mates ($31) a further 2.5-lengths back in third.
The trifecta paid a whopping $8302 on the Victorian TAB.
The View is having his first preparation for Wellington after previously being trained by Melbourne Cup winning trainer Robert Hickmott.
The four-year-old gelding had failed to run a place in four starts for the stable.
Wellington said he was pleasantly surprised to see his recent stable acquisition find winning form.
"He had had a few runs for me that weren't fantastic runs and he sort of was a staying type of horse," Wellington said.
"We were riding him from behind and he just wasn't getting out early enough to wind up.
"So today there was the option to either sit outside the leader or lead.
"I told Nick pre-race to go forward and try to find the lead if he could.
"Nick rode the horse perfectly and the horse was good enough to get the job done thankfully."

Wellington is of the opinion that The View could develop into a stayer capable of proving competitive over further than a mile.
"I do believe that he will get over more ground and is a one paced staying type," he said.
"It's just pleasing to see that we have got him thereabouts with some new owners on board.
"It's just fantastic to get a win."
Wellington has recently expanded his team with his son, Jesse, also heavily involved with the stable.
"We have been able to attract a few new owners to the stable," he said.
"My son, Jesse, has also got a few horses.
"I was happy with how things were going but now my son has got involved, it's all good."
