The Victorian border crossing permit system, which came into effect following a growing COVID-19 cluster in Sydney's Northern beaches, was rolled out from midnight Friday.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said patrols will operate 24 hours a day and cover both major and arterial roads and backroads on the Victoria-NSW border.

"We want to reassure all Victorians that this will not have an impact on their policing response, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week," the spokesperson said.
NSW recorded 23 new COVID-19 cases today, while Victoria recorded no locally transmitted cases.
