The AFL released over the weekend 16-players that have been given permission to train at seven clubs during the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP).
Murray who turned 20 last Friday was ecstatic to learn he has two months to impress the Crows, who have one spot remaining on their rookie list.
"I received a call from Adelaide a couple of weeks ago and it was like Christmas had come early," Murray said.
"Obviously it would have been good to be drafted but to have this opportunity is unreal.
"Hopefully I can tick all the right boxes and then be offered a contract at the end of the two month trial.
"Otherwise I will head back to Williamstown.
"I know it's not the end of the world if I don't get picked up but it has been my childhood dream to play AFL."
Murray will relocate to Adelaide early in the new year and will train with the Crows from January 7 to March 5.
He plans to travel over to Adelaide with Matt and Jaxon Neagle who have signed with Central District for next year.
Jordon Butts made his debut for Adelaide this year and is a former Murray Bushranger teammate of Murray's.
Butts is the son of former Carlton and North Albury player Gerard.
"I'm going to live with one of the Adelaide players," he said.
"I also played Bushrangers with Jordon, so I will know a few people over there."

Murray played alongside his brother and former Collingwood defender, Sam, this year at Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong.
The pair had signed with Williamstown but joined the Lions after the VFL season was ruined by COVID-19.
The siblings have signed with Williamstown again.
Nick played seven matches with the Lions before badly injuring his collarbone in the first week of finals in the AFL Riverina Championship.
The strong marking forward required surgery to repair four breaks in his left collarbone.
Murray said he had fully recovered from the injury.
"My collarbone is fine and I'm back lifting similar weights to what I was before the injury," he said.
"I'll be able to do full contact training and it's not giving me any dramas at all."
If Murray does get selected by Adelaide he will add to Henty's growing reputation as an AFL breeding ground.
David Willis, Tim Scott, Brent Piltz, Kade Klemke, Dean Terlich, Sam Murray and Harrison Macreadie have all found their way onto lists since 1988.
