THE return of border checkpoints may delay the opening of registrations for the City2City, but the Albury to Wodonga fun run should still proceed.

That is the scenario being outlined by the event's organising committee chairwoman Michelle Hudson.
The February 21 event is being planned purely for runners with entries capped at 2500 and the walk and talk held separately to accommodate COVID-19 rules.
Entries were due to open on January 11, but Ms Hudson said that may be delayed by up to two weeks.
"We're going to continue to assess the situation and work with the local authorities, I've contacted the Victorian cross border commissioner's office and (Wodonga politician) Bill Tilley's office," Ms Hudson said yesterday.
"We've got until the 11th of January and we could look at the possibility of the registration being slightly later to give people extra confidence before they register.
"We're very hopeful that there won't be checkpoints by February 21, the NSW (virus) numbers are trending in the right direction."
Ms Hudson noted normally 50 per cent of entries were not lodged until the fortnight before the race.
She declined to say it would be impossible to stage City2City with police stationed on the Lincoln Causeway.
"We'll have full name and address details for participants and they'll have signed a COVID waiver, so there are potential ways and means around it if checkpoints are still in place," she said.
"That's a little bit optimistic but I'm not ruling it out."
