Phil Slater, John Boyd, Rob McConnell and Ray Johnson combined superbly to finish on four wins plus 28 shots, but amazingly found themselves level with Holbrook's Chris Heather, Wolfgang Kaletta, Peter Wornes and Gavin Jones at the end of play.
A countback revealed the Howlong side had captured more ends than Holbrook in the final game and they were declared the champions and took home the $1720 first prize.
North Albury's Stephen Broad, Danny Czuczman, Ed Simmons and Brett Furze placed third, while Wagga RSL quartet David Inglis, Heath Walker, Trent Lord and Matt McComber rounded out the top four.

Meanwhile, Albury and District Bowling Association's pennant season commences on Saturday.
It's been a long wait for bowlers after the COVID-19 pandemic cut the 2020 season short on the eve of the finals for all grades last March.
Grades four to seven will commence this weekend, with a general bye for grade three.
Lavington takes on Holbrook and North Albury hosts Howlong in grade four, with a bye for Commercial.
In grade five, Commercial faces Culcairn, Henty clashes with Walla and North Albury travels to Oaklands.
Holbrook welcome Lavington in grade six, Commercial awaits Rand, while Howlong plays North Albury.
Walla and Henty do battle in grade seven, with North Albury to host Howlong, while Urana has the bye.
Albury and District's 2021 triples champions will be decided on Sunday.
Henty's Peter Forck and Kerry Boyle contest the open final at Henty, while Lavington's Max Scanlan and Fred Markham are in the seniors and Oaklands' Ron Bonat faces Commercial's Mike Hodgess in the president's reserve at the Commercial Club.
Matches start at 9.30am, with a 9.10am roll-up.
Entries for the district pairs must be submitted no later than 12pm on January 17.
Henty will host the open and senior pairs, with the president's reserve event at Walla, to start on January 31.
