After falling by 21 shots to RSL in the first round, Civic held its nerve in the return fixture, 67-65, and moved off the bottom of the table.
Col Hendren defeated Jordan Thornton, 21-,12, and Ian Lewis downed Ryan Davies, 24-9, but RSL claimed the other two rinks with Scott Widdison a 22-8 winner against John White and Shawn McMahon too good for Ian Bilney, 22-14.

Wodonga continued its unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought 87-77 win away to Kiewa Valley.
Yarrawonga took down Benalla, 94-64, away from home, while YMGCR won all four rinks in its 112-75 demolition of Wangaratta.
The A1 pennant ladder after round eight is: Wodonga 106, YMGCR 89, Corowa RSL 72, Wangaratta 64, Kiewa Valley 58, Yarrawonga 46, Corowa Civic 39, Benalla 30.
