
A Riverina man accused of multiple sexual assault offences, some dating back to 2006, has been refused bail by a court.
In December last year, detectives from Riverina Police District started an investigation into allegations of historic child sexual assault by a man in the region between 2006 and 2020.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 37-year-old man at Deniliquin Police Station about 11am on Wednesday.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted two girls - then aged between six and 16 - who were known to him, over a four-year period, while they were in his care.

The offences include six counts of aggravated sexual assault of a victim under the age of 16 years, four counts of aggravated indecent assault of a victim under authority of offender and having sexual intercourse with person aged between 10 and 14 years.
The man is due to appear before Wagga Local Court on January 25.
