After a successful launch in 2020, Hockey Albury-Wodonga will run its Tiger Moths come and try program for a second year, but this time around there's no cost involved.

The six week-program gets under way on February 11 in Wodonga, February 18 at Corowa, February 20 in Albury and Wangaratta will also run it from March 4.

HAW development director Doug Agar said Tiger Moths come and try will run alongside Hookin2Hockey in Albury this year, a national junior program for players who intend to continue into the regular season.

"Coming back from a year where all sport was limited, the opportunity to try the sport, either as a beginner or someone who has already got a hockey background for free, is a pretty good opportunity," Agar said.

"Hookin2Hockey is focused more on kids who are planning to play the season.

"It includes Hockey Victoria registration to play in our under-10s or under-12s, whereas come and try is more standalone, but at the end of it they can still sign up and join a club.

"The opportunity to run both side by side this year is pretty exciting."

Agar hopes the association can build on the momentum it gathered from last year's program before the HAW season had to be abandoned due to COVID-19.

"Unfortunately that got taken away, but hopefully this year we'll have lots of kids enthused by the program and move into under-10s and under-12s," he said.

Wodonga, Wangaratta and Corowa sessions are on Thursday, with Albury's programs on Saturday.
