Public schools officially commenced term one on Thursday, while several Wodonga private schools, including Grace Christian College, welcome back students on Friday.
Among the new faces is Baranduda's Jemima Hick, 5, who will join older sisters Torah and Isla at the school.
Jemima is the fourth child in the family to start school and her mother Morgan Bradbury described the house as a "well oiled-machine" when it comes to school days.
"We've got shoes, clothes, schoolbags and lunches going everywhere," she said.

But despite having sent three children to school already, she still has nerves.
"You always worry if they'll make friends, will they like their teacher? It doesn't matter which number child it is, you still feel sick every single time," Ms Bradbury said.
"You get that tickle in the back of your throat and feel a bit emotional seeing this little person wander off."
Wodonga students spent a lot of 2020 in remote learning as the COVID-19 pandemic stopped face-to-face teaching in Victoria.
