The incident - which appeared to be filmed by those in a blue Holden Cruze and gold hatchback behind the ute - occurred about 7.50pm.
The station's security cameras showed the utility performing two loops while spinning its tyres, throwing out a large amount of smoke, before continuing south on Hovell Street.
Senior Sergeant Shane Martin said the behaviour was foolish and ridiculous and police were keen to get the driver off the road.
"It was very short, sharp, and then they've taken off," he said.
"We've tried to find the car but we've been unsuccessful at this stage.
"I'm confident that we'll find out who's done this.
"Someone would have seen this car, someone knows who the owner of this car is and who was driving."
The two vehicles behind the utility appeared to have people leaning out, possibly filming the incident.
The utility did not appear to be involved in any other incidents.
