Albury Tennis Association president Ken Wurtz overcame Friday night's rain which threatened to wash out another Saturday pennant by bucketing water off the courts for some five hours to ensure play went ahead.

In section one men, Wangaratta Thunder's Sam Allan, Brendan Liddell and Doug Smith all produced solid performances to earn a good win over top team Uiver Park Bulls.
Nick Vicary had a solid day on court for St Patricks/Diggerville Hilfiger but they were not able to stop Forrest Hill Eagles, who won 39-33 to hold second spot.
Section one ladies saw Wodonga Larrikins (4-42) retain top position with a win against Wodonga Diamonds (2-31).
Sandra Allen won all three matches on the day.
Forrest Hill were too strong for SPD Pink with Di Wurtz, Maxine Quinlivan, Chrissy Schulz and Helen Curtis winning all sets for the day.
In section two men, SPD Black's Gary Graetz, Matthew Vogel, Shane Mumberson and Grant Sawyer teamed up to win all sets for the day and 60 games in preparation to take on top team Forrest Hill Galahs next week.
The Galahs were challenged by Sacred Heart with the singles rubbers split, but the Forrest Hill side managed to claim three of the last four sets to get the job done.
Forrest Hill Blues (4-39) defeated SPD White (2-33) in section three men in the closest match of the day.
Leaders Albury Gold toppled Wodonga Eagles, with Neil Mitchell and Ken Reid solid contributors.
Lara Meagher, Phoebe Godward-Smith and Ella McDonell dominated for SPD Yellow in section four to retain top position.
Travis Rodd, Jake Meagher and Darsh Shah brought home a solid win for SPD Purple in section five to remain in control of the competition.

In Tuesday ladies pennant, Bulle won a five-game thriller against Sands, 34-29, while Spencer beat Peacock with Marianne Spencer and Brenda Roberts unbeaten.
Wurtz won on a forfeit.
In section two, Aylmore pipped Sheil with Trish Scammell on fire, while Quirk had a comfortable win over Howard.
Jones fought hard to win by a game over team Huckstepp in section three, with Merritt four sets to two victors against Johnson.
Junior coaching continues at the grasscourts on Saturday at 9.30am for children aged between seven and 14 of all standards.

Country Week commences in Swan Hill on February 15 and runs to February 19.
Social tennis will be held on February 16 in lieu of a Country Week bye for Tuesday ladies, with a 9am start.
There will be a general bye for all sections on March 6 due to Wodonga's Labour Day tournament.
