The only factor in his favour is a sentence assessment report ordered in Albury Local Court this week.
The background report on Dylan Dubois could open the door to non-custody options, though magistrate Richard Funston warned he was "clearly facing a jail sentence".

"But at least (the report) allows me to find special circumstances," Mr Funston said.
"It's really a question of time (imposed in the sentence)."
The 19-year-old, appearing via a video link to jail, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted take or drive a conveyance.
The court was told Dubois approached a car parked in front of a house in Clarke Street, Young, overnight on December 19 and 20, 2020.
He put "an unknown object" into the ignition in an attempt to start the car, but the object broke off.
Before fleeing, Dubois left blood on the outside of the car.
Forensic tests later confirmed the blood belonged to Dubois, who was arrested in Albury on February 1.
Last September, Dubois was sentenced in the same court to a back-dated seven-month term.
He and two co-offenders, who he met in jail, drove a stolen car to Albury from Young in early July.
The trio then began a series of thefts from cars in East Albury, then broke into a Thurgoona home.
Defence lawyer Mitchell Irwin said the parents of Dubois were drug addicts, with his mother even once re-introducing him to his addiction after he had gone clean.
"He wants to change his behaviour, he wants to move forward."
Dubois will be sentenced on April 14.
